***Safety and Prevention***
A Few Tips on Staying Safe When You Head For The Mountains;
* Always let someone know where you are going and your expected time of return.
* Never ride alone
* Check avalanche conditions before heading out into alpine areas.
* Ride on the trails at a safe speed which allows you keep to the right at all times and be on the lookout for grooming equipment.
* Be aware of and be prepared for sudden weather changes.
* Do not consume alcohol or drugs while snowmobiling.
* Get in shape: Snowmobiling is a physically demanding sport. Prepare your body BEFORE the season begins.
* Lend a hand when you encounter fellow riders in need of assistance.
* Carry Emergency Gear and Know how to use it. Your kit should include the following "Minimum" items:
- Well stocked First Aid kit.
- Fire Starter packets and at least 2 lighters.(Keep these items in your pocket)
-Saw.
-Shovel.
-Flashlight (Headlamp is best).
-Spare gloves and socks.
-Energy Bars.
-Water and tin can to melt snow to replenish water.
-Nylon rope.
-Knife and/or Multi tool.
-GPS and/or compass. (Know how to use these)
-In alpine areas known for avalanches, always carry and know how to use, an avalanche beacon, avalanche probe and a good avalanche shovel.
